Auction: "I will send maddening postcards from Poland to the person of your choosing" - Boing Boing → boingboing.net

I would offer this from my own country but I don’t trust the postal service…

Rottweilers in the news

“Rottweilers are notoriously unreliable. Mandy was playing with it the day before, tickling and rubbing its belly, and it was absolutely fine.”
Kennel worker loses an arm after attack by Rottweiler - Times Online

Kudos to whoever for rescuing this dog, but why would you take in a stray Rottweiler and not take any precautions? You don’t check the history or find out about the conditions it lived in? It’s not a bloody Chihuahua you know, if a Rottie bites you, you stay bit. And the upbringing makes all the difference - be it a brat or a dog.

While I feel sorry for this woman, you cannot blame a dog in a situation where the incident was almost entirely human error.

“As for me, I love Great Danes. Also Dobermans and Ridgebacks and sleek Lab mixes. Alas, I do not yet have a dog. When I finally get one, perhaps I shall name him Allah. Maybe I shall get a second dog and name her Buddha, my parrot Jesus, my new mattress set Shiva and Shakti, my car Dionysus, and my favorite Pyrex sex toy, naturally, oh sweet Lord. This is the plan. For now, I shall do my part to defuse the raging drama of perceived blasphemy in the world by naming my favorite coffee mug Muhammad. I suggest you do something similar. Spread God around. Unlock the cage. Defeat toxic zealotry. After all, is God not everywhere, in all things at all times in every possible way? You bet She is. Really, why save her for just the teddy bears?” —Mark Morford’s Notes and Errata

“According to women who had been through it themselves, the gifts of motherhood included stupefying boredom, social isolation, stultifying menial chores, ignorance and disillusionment, and sleep deprivation…..The total lack of privacy, sex and quiet. The constant demands to do and say the same things, again and again and again. The relentless questions. The loss of control over one’s own needs. These are the tried-and-true techniques of human torture. What mothers suffer every day in the privacy of their own homes would be considered a violation of the Geneva Conventions were it inflicted on soldiers during a war.” —Nobody’s Mother: Life Without Kids
